Great Huts at Boston Beach

Great Huts at Boston Beach
Port Antonio's most unusual accommodation is also its most basic, aimed solely at travelers who don't mind an experience that is, as Jamaicans would say, "rootsy." Near the jerk stands of Boston Beach, Great Huts is styled like an African village. Saturday evening cultural shows feature drumming, music, and dance. Accommodations range from simple huts to two-story tree houses; there are also permanent tents planted directly on the sand for those on tight budgets. The cheapest huts have shared baths, all now have hot water, and none are air-conditioned, though all come with fans. The property has a bar, restaurant, and pool. The dedicated staff can point you to out-of-the-way activities such as a volunteer tourism program in which guests help at the Port Antonio homeless shelter.
